Livestock Processing

In December 2017, RIRLA ceased its livestock processing scheduling service.   As our member farms had grown over the years, the ability to process at a growing number of out-of-state facilities became an economic reality. We realized that our processing numbers no longer supported Rhode Island Raised livestock as a scheduler.

We thank our members who have remained as we grew from small processing numbers, to processing large numbers of livestock, and then dropped back to small numbers once again, even though many no longer processed through RIRLA. We have been grateful for the partnership we have had with RI Beef & Veal and Westerly Packing as we watched our member farms grow, given the ability to receive USDA processing close to home. We consider this joint venture to have been quite a success.
